Preschool and Car Rides

The first day of school pose:

The big news of the week .. the kids started preschool! They have been looking forward to this for the longest time. We tried not to bring it up too often in the last few weeks because they wanted to go right then and there, but we also tried to prepare them for it. There really was no preparation needed, though. They knew exactly what they wanted to do when they got there .. paint! We had visited the school back in February for an open house and they painted almost the whole time. Boy did they remember that. We were the first ones at the school for their session on the first day. The kids were so ready to get going - we even stalled by stopping to get gas on the way, then taking some pictures outside by the school. Finally they were able to go into the classroom and as soon as they got the go-ahead, a-paintin' they went. They could have cared less that mom and dad were going to leave them in a strange, new place. See ya! The second day was no different. They are just going two days a week, 2 hours at a time, so they are good and ready to go back when it's finally a school day. I think it's safe to say they will have a blast this year in school. What big kids. I still can't believe our little guys are old enough to go to preschool. Where in the world has the time gone?

A few days before school started I was sitting with Aeron and we were talking about preschool. I told him I was going to miss him (yeah, probably not something you should say if the kid was nervous about going, but he was far from it). He looked at me and said, "Awwwwww.. mom, I will be back soon! I won't be gone wong and then you come pick me up!" What a sweetheart.

Addyson can clam up pretty good in a crowd, so I was eager to see how she would do with so many kids around. I asked one of her teachers after the second day if she talked much. She said will talk quite a bit if you sit down with her while she's playing or busy, but isn't a little jibber-jabber (I think she might have been hinting about Aeron there.) And Addyson does excellent during group time. That's our Addyson.

We had at least three paintings from each of the kids on the first day and another 1-2 the second. I have hung each on their walls in their bedrooms, but at this pace we will need to expand. They have buckets that they tote their work to and from school, and on the second day Addyson's paintings were folded nicely and tucked into her bucket. Aeron's was folded, but then crumpled and smooshed into the bottom of his bucket. I just had to chuckle at that one .. seems like a boy-girl thing to me. :)

Addyson is a neat kid .. not that Aeron is a messy one by any means, but she is just a cleaner-straightener-type. This is her mopping the bathroom floor the other day .. I don't think it was even dirty, but she told me to be careful cause it was "sippery."

Aeron chowing on one of their favorites at the moment .. corn dogs. Eating gives them "injury." That would be "energy" to most people.

Addyson and Tressy..

Car rides over the last few months or so have been quite fun. Both Addyson and Aeron have taken a liking to listening to the songs on the radio while we drive. Both kids are constantly saying, "Louder! Turn it up!"

"Poker Face" by Lady Gaga and "Shake-Shake-a-Shake-it" (I have no idea if this is the title or who sings it) are "their songs." Several times now Addyson has heard "Poker Face" come on before anyone else and she says, "What's this song!?" They start singing it and then say, "This is our song! Poker Face and Shake-Shake are our songs!"

They also like to tell us what they see out their windows. They "switch seats" often, so are not on the same side all the time, but Addyson for some reason, always seems to get the cows, horses, lambs, etc on her side. She announces what she sees and then Aeron feels bad because he didn't have any on his side. So now, every chance she gets, Addyson looks out Aeron's window for him and tells him when to look at the "aminals." And then she announces to us, "Awon saw cows out his window!"

Going around exit ramps or sharp turns, Aeron always says we are "tipping." And now we also have to "duck" every time we go under a bridge, overpass, or even highway signs. Oh yes, never a dull moment in the car.

I know what you mean about the preschool. My kids go four days a week. Even knows they are really enjoying it and I am enjoying the quite time. But by the time the bus gets her I am so ready to see my babies. They don't care when I drop them off in the morning they give me a kiss and tell me bye. It breaks my heart that they don't need me as much but at least we are doing something right and helping them become big kids. Maddie comes up with the crazy stuff in the car and makes us laugh all the time. I can't wait until Preston can start talking.
