No Lack of Material To Post This Week

Not that this house usually has a lack of material to post, but there seems to be more than normal. Matt has felt pretty crappy all week with a nice head cold, chest congestion, and cough. He's passed it onto poor Addyson, who is just miserable and keeps asking for "more medcine cuz it's ouchy." And lots of "wipes" for her nose. Just in the last day, Aeron has come down with quite the fever, so there is definitely something going around our house.

I woke up one morning this week for work and noticed my contact case was not on the bathroom counter like normal. I remembered seeing the cat in there right before bed, at one point during the night when I was up with Addyson, and then first thing in the morning as well .. which only meant one thing. Tress had taken off with it and batted it under something. I looked for more than fifteen minutes before finding it under the bench in the foyer. I first checked under the couch and loveseat, the normal collection area. I did find all kinds of things other than the contact case under the furniture.. a Lego block, 3 kernels of popcorn, 4 marbles, a plastic dragonfly, a pen, a yellow crayon, a Diego Lego skateboard, a magazine insert, a toy mouse, a dog bone, an Elmo domino, 2 ficus tree leaves, and a bouncy ball. Honestly, I periodically clean under this furniture because of having the cat and two almost-3-year-olds, but now I think I should do it more often .. not to mention that I'm a little frightened to look between the cushions.

Yet another morning I woke up for work, and as I went downstairs to leave, I almost stepped in a huge puddle of water. Nice. Turns out our water heater had a little hole in the tank, and it was spraying water all over. Matt and I cleaned up the mess, I went to work, and by later that evening, we had a new water heater installed. Thank goodness we have a vinyl floor down there, which is not completely level, so the water pooled right in the middle, so nothing was damaged.

We moved Addyson and Aeron to BIG beds this week. Addyson is in the queen guest bed that was in her room with a brand new pink comforter, and Aeron now has a full-size bed with a brand new blue comforter. Boy, do they feel like big kids. It hasn't really kept Addyson from getting out of bed over and over and over again, but at this point we aren't sure anything would do that! No more toddler beds for these big kids.

So a day after the water heater fiasco, Matt and I were putting together Aeron's bed and I had thrown a load of sheets in the laundry. A bit later I ran downstairs for something else, only to find yet another HUGE (the water heater puddle was nothing compared to this one) puddle of water. Of course I looked at the water heater first, but nope, this was soapy water coming from the washing machine. There was so much water we couldn't even use towels and shammies on it. The shop vac saved us. Turns out the hot water couldn't shut off on the washer because of the tiniest little piece of something in the line from fixing the water heater. It was an easy fix on the washer, thank goodness, but what a huge mess. Again, though, our unlevel floor saved everything .. and the floor is cleaner than ever down there.

The kids had a ball at cousin Emma's third birthday party today. Putt-n-Stuff was the place to be once again, so of course the kids had a ball. Aeron was his normal non-stop self, depsite the on-coming fever.

Addyson had her fair-share of climbing in the huge play area, but also had fun with some arcade games with dad. With no naps and feeling under-the-weater, bedtime was a welcome sight for them tonight. I think Aeron was out before his head hit the pillow and Addyson fell asleep pretty quickly .. for Addyson, at least. :)

Here's to hoping things are a little more quiet next week. And hopefully the sick bug heads out the door soon.
