Miss Independent and Mr. Serious

We walk out of the house and the dog goes nuts .. he loves going outside as much as the kids, maybe even more. Bailey has this thing where he runs down the hill, barks and jumps at the tree (yes, every single time) and then comes charging back up, looking like he is going to plow over the kids.. but at the last second turns and just runs around them. The kids still aren't used to it and it makes them stop and cover their eyes. Addyson even sometimes yells, "Batey, top!"

"OKAY" seems to be the word of the week. If someone cries, or even just coughs, especially Aeron, Addyson walks over, cocks her head to the side and asks, "okay?" as she kind of bobs her head up and down. It's the sweetest thing. If you ask her a question and she wants to do it, she replies with "okay!" Aeron still sometimes will respond with his "zzess," but he's starting with the "okay," reply too.

We cannot push Addyson high enough in her swing. She just giggles and laughs and wants to go higher. She spends so much time swinging. We took a walk around the pond last night and we think Addyson would have just walked right in if we would have let her. She was leaning over the side of the dock looking at the fish and if I would have let go, she would have been in. She has no fear. Addyson doesn't always want to hold your hand when walking.. she would rather just walk off by herself and explore. It doesn't matter if we are in the middle of Walmart, she just walks off like she knows exactly where she is going. She was busy looking at a flowering bush on our walk the other evening, and we kept going after trying to coax her for a while, thinking she would catch up with us soon, but she just stood there on her own and didn't mind that we were way up ahead. She is one independent little girl.

Aeron loves the slide, and will go up and down and over and over. Aeron is a little man when it comes to wanting to walk everywhere. I don't think daddy had to carry him much at all on our trip around the pond, and he loves holding your hand or finger while walking. He likes his independence sometimes, but nothing like his sister. He is just a pretty laid-back kid for the most part. Now, getting him to stop riding a tractor, the go-cart at grandpa's, or even just sitting in a car acting like he's driving .. these will sometimes cause meltdowns because he is SO into tractors and things that move. The other night daddy had him on the tractor and we tried to get him to wave at the camera. He just said, "tractor," as if saying, "are you crazy? I'm sitting on this tractor working here!" Every time he would come around, I'd smile at him and he would look at me real quick and glance away. Now this is not Aeron at all .. he's always so quick to smile, but get him on the tractor and he is Mr. Serious!

A few websites to check out.. our March for Babies site, where we are raising money for the March of Dimes, a charity very near and dear to ours hearts. The walk is May 10th in Akron, near the Children's Hospital where we stayed. We are very much looking forward to it.

Until Journey's End. This is a site I found through a friend of a friend type thing .. I've never met this family, who lives in Michigan, but I started reading about them when I found out they adopted a 24-week preemie and I just followed their story. Since then, they are working on starting an organization to help familes in need who find themselves away from home due to circumstances beyond their control. They send gifts, money, stamps, etc .. to people who were in the very situation that we were when Addyson and Aeron were born. They are still getting ideas together, but have sent a care package once a week for 6 weeks or so now. Great stuff.
