Coloring, Hats and Counting

Addyson and her coloring. She will sit and color for quite a long time, while Aeron will sit with her for about 30 seconds and then find something else to do for a bit, come back for a few more seconds, and off again. He really does get into it for those few seconds .. down on his elbows and right into his work. Addyson likes to color a little here and there and then turn the page and color some more.

Here we have twister coloring..

Hats were the clothing of choice this week. Daddy wore his hat a lot this weekend while he was digging us out from all the snow and Aeron loved to wear daddy's hat when he came in. We think he looks a little like Dopey from the seven dwarfs because when he puts it on his head his ears stick out,

Addyson also had to wear her's..

Here are the kids watching daddy dig us out from the huge snowfall.

I think Aeron is impressed with Addyson's limber legs on this one..

We enjoyed a nice weekend with daddy home much more than normal during the bowling season. The bowling alley was closed due to weather most of the day Friday and all day Saturday. We popped in a movie with the kids for the first time (a real movie, not just Sesame Street!) Friday evening and we were impressed with how much they actually sat and watched. I don't think we are ready to take them to the theater any time soon, but it was fun none the less.

I was sitting on the chair reading or doing something the other day and the kids were playing down on the floor in front of me. They were jabbering away and all of the sudden I heard Addyson say "seven, eight, nine, ten" just as plain as day. I looked up from what I was doing and just stared at her wondering what I had just heard .. we really haven't worked a whole lot with them on counting, but I guess she's picked it up. I let her think I wasn't paying much attention and said, "Addyson, let's count." And started "one.." She counted to ten pretty much on her own .. it was too cool. I called daddy in the room and had her do it again and he just stood there shaking his head with a huge smile on his face. Aeron knows two comes after one, and kind of say a few things that sound like counting after that, so he's getting it, too, at his own speed of course. It is just amazing watching little brains work and remember things.
