This week was very much back to "normal" for us, thank goodness. Aeron is doing very well, and I would say has been back to 100% in the last few days. His shingles are more or less just red spots now and fading away. He hasn't complained once about his leg in the last few days, so I truly believe it was the shingles coming on that was causing the pain. It sure was nice, also, not having to set my alarm for 4 am after those five days of giving medication.
Several weeks ago Disney/Pixar's "Cars" was on TV and we had never watched it before, so we caught most of it. The kids loved it (although they didn't like the commercials AT ALL - they are a little spoiled living in the DVR era). It really is a very good movie, much like the rest of Pixar's movies. We bought them the movie for their birthdays and there have not been too many days since that we haven't watched it (some days it was only 3o min. before bed.) Aeron loves Lightning McQueen and they both love Mater, the tow truck.
It was the animals turn for appointments this week. Both Tress and Cayce were neutered/spay on Monday. If you watched either of them this week, you would have no idea they had anything done, though. Tress maybe was a little groggy right after I brought him home, but he bounced right back. They told us to try to keep Cayce from jumping and running for 7 days or so .. um, yeah, do you know this dog? That is pretty much impossible. I think maybe I kept her from doing either too much for the first day, but I've stopped trying since. She wore the lamp shade ("cone" or "horn" if you ask the kids) for the first day and a half, but she hasn't even tried to lick the suture, so we have left it off since. She is very much oblivious to the fact that she had surgery earlier this week.
Aeron running and swinging, enjoying the outdoors.
Addyson posing with her swings.
Just had to share this picture of our sour cream container after taco night at the Meshews. The kids were using the spoon by themselves, leaving a trail of cheese and lettuce. Also notice the sour cream dripped along the outside of the container. Both of them really like the tacos.
Two cute stories for the week:
Friday night we had a movie and popcorn night. The kids had been asking to watch "Cars" (surprise, surprise) all evening, so I said we could watch the whole thing before bed (a big treat). I wanted to get it started at a good time so they could still get to bed at a decent time so I said, "Let me go see how long it is." Aeron piped up and ran to the living room and saying, "I'll get the stick!" I didn't understand what he meant until he pulled out the yardstick and said, "Mommy, you use dis to measure it?" It's 116 minutes, by the way.
We have been working on Addyson and potty training a little more than normal this weekend. Last thing before bed, we tried to go. She didn't have to go. She said as a-matter-of-factly as possible, "It not want to come, Mom. Maybe da pee want to sweep in my butt." It didn't register for me right away, but when I repeated, "Did you just say 'maybe the pee wants to sleep in your butt'?", she responded, "Yah." I didn't burst out laughing (mostly because she was so serious about it) until I had them in bed that night, although every time I thought about it I had uncontrollable giggles trying to spew out. The next morning she told us, "My pee is waking up!"
Gotta love the way three-year old minds work.
