A Fun Little Getaway

A rare moment when all four are sitting still.

The Meshew family took a little vacation Thursday night. We spent the night at a hotel with an indoor waterpark, and the kids had an absolute blast. There was a slide the kids went down more times than we could count - on their bellies, on their butts, on their backs - every which way. They splashed, they swam, they just plain had fun. It was a nice little get-a-way, and we can't wait for the summer for more swimming.

The car trip of course included the movie "Cars." Here is Aeron in his sunglasses. He calls himself "foxy" in his shades. Addyson calls herself a "movie tar" in hers.

Addyson enjoying an oatmeal creme pie.

Aeron and dad sporting their OSU sweatshirts, getting ready to go home after a fun time away.

Addyson and mom ready for home.

The night in the hotel was interesting.. the kids were exhausted, but being away from their beds made it hard for them to fall asleep. We thought they were pretty well out - it was getting late - and Matt and I were whispering about something before we laid down for the night. All of the sudden we heard, "Guys!" We froze. Addyson said, "Shh.. your going to wake up Aeron." That was the last we heard, other than Matt and I trying to hold in our giggles (this seems to happen alot).

I had to run to Walmart with the kids Friday evening, which is something I try not to do too often. On top of this, it happened to be the second time I was there that day.. because during checkout one of my bags was left on the little turntable. Yes, even after I asked the cashier if I had everything (and she said yes), because it almost happened once before. Fun times. In any case, the kids did great while there, so we stopped at McDonalds for some cookies as a treat. As we were driving away, Aeron said, "Dese are Donald's cookies?" I told him yes. He asked, "Why did we take dem?" I guess he was afraid Donald wanted to eat his own cookies.

The kids have been enjoying spinning on the swings. They get on their bellies (on the regular swing) and then I twist them up and let 'em spin. We had only done this once or twice and Addyson said to me one day as we were walking out to play, "Tie me up in a bow, Mommy!" Took me a bit to figure it out, but she wanted to spin on the swings again.

I was done with this post.. until just a few minutes ago when I noticed Addyson putting on her chapstick over and over and over. I told her that was probably enough and go ahead and put the cap on. Then I walked over..

Is this Kalahari, by any chance? We went there with friends in November and it's such a neat place!! I was actually thinking it would be a really fun weekend for our families to meet there sometime... maybe when the kids are a little older. Ours are still not as comfy in the water as it appears yours are!
