Swinging, Santa, and Irene

We enjoyed a lovely evening outside one day this week. It was so nice to get out and stretch our legs. The kids, of course, reacqainted themselves with the swingset, and then we had a nice walk around the property. Addyson marched us around saying we were going to "Mickey Park" (those of you who watch "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" know what she's talking about), and we had to take certain paths to get there. It was refreshing to get out.

The kids and I were walking into the bowling alley yet another evening this week and we followed a man being wheeled in a wheelchair. He had a very long, white beard. Addyson said, "That guy wooks wike Santa Caus. In a wheelbarrow."

Another funny Addyson saying this week - she saw a black squirrel scurry across the banister outside the window. "Wook .. a kunk!" (she thought it was a skunk)

The kids had their three-year checkup this past week. Aeron is a healthy 28 pounds and 36 inches, which lands him right in the 15th percentile for both height and weight for boys. Addyson is just a little bigger at 28 1/2 pounds and 36 1/4 inches, and in the 30th percentile for both height and weight for girls.

Goodbye to my Great-Aunt Irene. We will miss you dearly. What a wonderful, spunky 89-year old woman she was, and what a wonderful, full life she led. We learned so much from her and will never forget her. Irene's corn, the game of Pick, New Year's Eve parties, and birthday presents that always included dollar bills wrapped in fun ways will be only a few of the things I will always remember.
